What are your goals for a custom oil painting? Do you have reference material? What style do you prefer, abstract or realism? A combination of both? What size? Let’s start the conversation.
I appreciate the request to “paint whatever you want!” However, you might know what you want but don’t know how to ask for it. Let’s start by referring to my gallery. Which pieces do you like? What tones are you drawn to (warm or cool, a mix of both?) Do you have a set timeline for completion?
The category of “nature” may also include wild animals, trees, flora, etc. I do not paint from references of other artist’s work. I no longer paint murals and do not paint portraits.

Oil paintings sized 16×16 and 20×28 are pre-framed in beautiful Chilean pine wood float frames that are securely wired on the back. Artwork is shipped with generous foam padding protecting the corners and edges of your painting. Canvas is made up of 60% cotton and 40% linen.
Paintings sized 30×40 and above are unframed, 1 ½ inch deep, acid-free, archival, gallery wrapped canvas. Edges are painted black and the painting is treated with a protective semi-gloss varnish. All paintings are wired and signed on the back.
Sizes:
16x16 inches: $475
20x28 inches: $600
30x40 inches: $750

After agreeing upon a vision and size for your painting, a non-refundable down payment of 50% is due upon the start of piece to ensure your commitment and supplement supplies needed to begin your painting. The remaining balance is due upon completion and includes additional shipping charge (US shipping only at this time).
Paintings can take up to several weeks to complete depending on size and complexity.
All pieces are varnished and signed on the back. We will discuss your timeline and I will keep you updated throughout the process.
All sales are final. If the painting arrives damaged your satisfaction is my priority and a similar replacement will be arranged.

All paintings start with an acrylic primed base and then continued to completion in oil.
Abstracts tend to take less time than commissions that are made based on reference material.
I hesitate to send too many progress pictures because I do not want the viewer to become too attached to that specific phase of the painting as it will undoubtedly change. However, if desired, I will keep you posted with updates throughout the process.
Commissions are completed in the order they are received.

Upon completion, you will have the opportunity to request slight adjustments but please keep in mind any major changes to the original plan will be at an additional cost.
It is important to note that abstract paintings are fluid and unplanned, so specific results beyond general style, size and palette should not be expected.
Dry time depends on thickness of paint application but typically takes a week or so. I then apply a coat of varnish to protect the piece and bring out the vibrancy of the colors. Varnish takes 24-48 hours to dry.
Work on canvas will be signed on the back and wired. Panels are signed on the back but not wired as they are meant to pop in a frame. I personally prefer the look of framed panels without glass.
Your commission will be shipped after final payment including shipping cost.
